AM General will use the Association of the US Army annual meeting, October 12-14 in Washington, to show a redesigned HUMVEE, a fully autonomous unmanned ground vehicle with advanced AI, and a JLTV A2 fitted with drone and counter-drone technology. The company will be at Booth 1925 in Hall B.
- Next-generation HUMVEE: a more powerful, redesigned vehicle with a new powertrain. AM General says later phases will add improved crew ergonomics, a digital cockpit, a modern vehicle electronics architecture, and advanced autonomous and optionally manned capabilities.
- Autonomous unmanned ground vehicle: described as fully autonomous and built around AI. The company has not released specifications in its announcement.
- JLTV A2: the next-generation light tactical vehicle now being delivered to the Army, with a new powertrain, added corrosion control and a quieter cabin. At the show it will carry a 30mm Samson remote weapon station and the Iron Wasp, an autonomous vehicle-launched counter-drone aerial system.
- XTEND Nest: a mobile launch pod, powered by XOS, designed to deploy aerial robots from a fixed or moving position.
The display shows how a traditional vehicle maker is trying to place itself in the Army’s push toward autonomy: add robots and drone defense to platforms soldiers already use. The company’s chief executive, John Chadbourne, said the show is a chance to demonstrate how AM General is adapting to the speed of change on the modern battlefield.
