ORBATMag is a publication about military and defense technology, from the order of battle as it stands today to the next-generation arsenal being built to replace it. At the center of our coverage is ordnance: the bombs, missiles, rockets, shells and explosives that forces depend on, and the production lines, stockpiles and contracts behind them.

Arms & Ordnance is our core beat. We follow munitions from design to delivery, including guided bombs and missiles, artillery ammunition, warheads, energetics and explosives, and the manufacturers working to build them faster. We also cover armor, small arms and the wider defense industrial base. Combat Robotics reports on unmanned ground, air and maritime systems and how robots are changing the way forces fight. AI & Autonomy looks at artificial intelligence in military planning, targeting and command, and the autonomous systems built on it.

Command Insights is our contributed content section. It is written by people from outside our newsroom: current and former military personnel, engineers, industry professionals and anyone working in the arms space who has something worth saying about weapons, strategy or the business of defense.

ORBATMag is produced by the Content Commander editorial desk. We aim to explain how defense systems actually work and why they matter, and when we get something wrong we say so on our Corrections page.
