The Army has fielded the initial release of TACTMIS, an enterprise system built on the Appian platform that replaces the legacy TAMIS munitions-management platform. TAMIS is scheduled to sunset on October 30, 2026, according to a Federal News report published October 8.
The Army describes TACTMIS as a foundational step in modernizing how it manages the munitions its forces depend on. The goal is to move away from fragmented, manual processes toward a digital capability built for the scale and speed of a modern force.
Munitions management rarely draws headlines, but it determines how quickly commanders can see what ordnance they have and where it is. As the Pentagon tries to raise production of shells, missiles and bombs, tracking that inventory accurately becomes part of the same readiness problem.
This is an initial release, and the notice does not detail later phases or capabilities. With the legacy platform’s sunset date weeks away, the first test will be how smoothly users move across.
