German unmanned-systems maker ARX Robotics and Ukrainian firm Roboneers have signed a strategic partnership for unmanned land warfare, Tech.eu reported. The agreement was signed in Kyiv with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy present.

The deal expands the relationship beyond manufacturing into system integration and joint development. It builds on a June 2026 joint venture, ARX Industries, set up to build the Rys Pro unmanned ground vehicle in series. ARX also fields its Gereon ground drone in Ukraine, and the company says it operates the largest Western-built ground robot fleet in the country.

Scale is the driving factor. The report cites an estimated 50,000 unmanned ground systems as Ukraine’s demand for 2026, a figure that dwarfs most Western procurement plans. Production will take place in both Ukraine and Germany, and ARX has been working with large German manufacturers such as Deutz to show it can ramp output quickly.

ARX’s chief executive said software-defined unmanned defense solutions are key for modern land forces. The company says one aim is to carry battlefield lessons from Ukraine into the land systems that Western armies develop, which would put combat-tested feedback directly into European robot designs.
